Awaycation Summer 2024 - Day 15 & 16
21.05.2024 - 22.05.2024
Tuesday
Today was just a simple slog up the A23 to Zaragoza. No interesting stops apart from a few fuel stops to keep the fuel tank full of cheaper Spanish diesel.
We arrived at the Municipal campsite around 5pm. Were swiftly on pitch 79 and that was that.
We all had a walk across to the bar restaurant and had a beer. Reggie made do with a treat from my pocket.
Tomorrow we leave for points north.
Wednesday
Up reasonably early and off up the A23 again. Except what looked like a short distance to the NII ended up as a trip through the city centre. Very nice but frustrating with lanes on the road disappearing and/or becoming bus lanes!
In the last two days we have driven nearly all the A23 has to offer. Reggie started to act strangely. Every so often he goes through a phase of eating grass. Today it's worse than normal. He was sick and still wanted more grass. He seems to prefer the manky stuff as well.
We stopped a few times at Carrefour supermarkets at Huesca and Jaca. Each time he wanted grass. By the time we got to Canfranc Station he didn't want to get out of the van.
There we had a look at the revamped international station. Now a posh hotel. A lot of the buildings are still in terrible condition and need sorting.
We checked out the new motorhome aire. It looks good.
After churros and chocolate we set off through the Somport Tunnel to France.
The drive to the Camping-Car Park site in Laruns was hair raising through villages with just enough room to the Marie Blanc pass at 1035m. Not that high but narrow.
Much of it in lashing rain.
Reggie still not right, still wanting grass to eat. If he is no better we will go to the vet a few miles away in the morning.
